If you’re experiencing issues with your fireplace remote not working, it may be due to the batteries in both the remote and the receiver located under the bottom of your fireplace. Both the remote and the receiver require well-charged and high-quality batteries to communicate with each other and ensure the proper operation of your fireplace.

If new batteries have been installed in both the remote and receiver and you are still experiencing issues, then the problem is different. You may need to contact customer support to diagnose and resolve the issue.

Different fireplace brands and models may have different troubleshooting steps. If you have a gas fireplace, such as a Skytech, Napoleon, Heatilator, Empire, Monessen, Valor, Superior, or Regency, you may need to refer to the manufacturer’s instructions or contact their customer support for assistance.

Similarly, if you have an electric fireplace, such as a Dimplex, Napoleon, or Real Flame, and your remote is not working, you may need to reset it or refer to the manufacturer’s instructions for troubleshooting.

Fireplace Remote Not Working! Reasons & Fixes

1. Dead Batteries

The remote control requires batteries to function correctly, and it is essential to ensure they are well-charged and of good quality.

Similarly, the receiver inside the fireplace also requires batteries, and they may need changing too. It is recommended to replace both the remote and receiver batteries at the same time, and this can be done easily by locating the small black box under the bottom of the fireplace.

Once the batteries have been replaced, the remote and receiver should function correctly.

2. Interference from Other Devices

Devices such as wireless routers, cordless phones, or even other remotes can cause interference with the signal from the remote to the receiver.

To fix this issue, try moving the remote and receiver to a different location or turning off other devices that may be causing interference.

3. Blocked Signal

A blocked signal can also be a reason why a fireplace remote may not be working. If the receiver is blocked by an object or if there is a significant distance between the remote and the receiver, the signal may not reach the receiver correctly.

To fix this issue, ensure that the receiver is not blocked by any objects and that there is a clear line of sight between the remote and the receiver.

4. Malfunctioning Receiver

If the remote and receiver batteries have been replaced, and there is no interference or blocked signal, then the issue may be with the receiver. A malfunctioning receiver can prevent the remote from communicating with the fireplace correctly.

In this case, it is recommended to contact a qualified fireplace dealer to have a service technician diagnose and fix any issues with the receiver.
